Wow. You certainly haven't let your gifts for description, and invective, atrophy. Or perhaps it's just that eidetic memory, for based on vague, alcohol-sodden memories of days gone by, virtually every word and image is completely plausible.

That's very flattering.

The story, incidentally, *is* an exercise in eidetic memory of sorts. My preferred genre is one I call "surreal naturalism." I remember our younger days very well, and the phantasmagoric, "Y'all ain't gonna believe this shit -- and I'd hardly belive it myself if it hadn't just happened to me" quality of our adventures (and misadventures) is very fertile ground, insofar as "harvesting" stories is concerned.
