My ancestors. I do believe though that Harnatoga was Cherekee - not Creek.
Grandson Isaac m. Mary "Polly" Rush from NC
They had children, one of whom was Caroline.
Caroline m. James Duncan.
Interestingingly, one of their boys, Samuel Houston Duncan married Lydia Emma Bean who was the daughter of John Bean and Sarah Camp.
Anyway, a Duncan daughter, Matilda Pope, married Dr James Cunningham and they had my Grandmother.
Most sincerely,
Your far-distant cousin (or something)

Thanks for the comment, Diane.

I've heard the Cherokee story, too, but I'm not completely sold on it. According to the preface of _Wright's Family Medicine_, it was Isaac I who took an Indian wife. At the time, he was living near Oglethorpe's Savannah colony, which was Creek Territory. The Cherokee lived farther North.

We've also encountered some difficulty in untangling the Bean/Wright connection, as there are apparently two branches of Wrights in the family tree: one Welsh; the other Scottish.

When I have a little more time, I'll post all the research I have.
