School Daze
This piece from the Times of India indicates that native-born British schoolchildren are falling behind their Indian and Chinese counterparts.
Last October, Britain's doughty Economist newspaper commented that the Bristol findings underlined the UK's biggest, unremarked problem, namely that "the nation's most troubled group, in both absolute and relative terms, is poor, white and British-born."
When one ethnic group scholastically outperforms another, doesn't the popular wisdom attribute it to institutionalized racism? Just asking...
Hit or Miss(ile)
It appears that the Russians have decided to sell Iran a neat little defense package. Now since Iran is part of the "axis of evil", and Russia is supplying a terrorist state with weapons, is it safe to assume that the next phase of the "war on terror" will include attacking Russia?
There Is Intelligent Life in Washington!
In this Washington Post offering, David Ignatius discusses the "culture of death" and its grip on the Mideast, along with the wrong-headedness of attempting to give the region a democracy makeover.
Changin' Tunes for Changin' Times?

Now I'm all confused. Does this mean we're not "racist rednecks" anymore? If so, I'm even more confused. I haven't discarded any of my Confederatate flags, and neither has anyone I know, after all. This makes me just a wee bit nervous. Usually, when the excoriation of us benighted backwoods bumpkins ceases, it means we're needed for yet another war...
Sunni Flambee
More of the religion of peace in action.
The savage revenge attack for Thursday's slaughter of 215 people in the Shiite Sadr City slum occurred as members of the Mahdi Army militia burned four mosques, and several homes while killing an unknown number of Sunni residents in the once-mixed Hurriyah neighborhood.
Wow. They burned four mosques. Does that mean.... Nah, forget it. I won't go there.

"'For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' Tommy anythin' you please.."
Oh, sorry! Those were redCOATs, not redNECKs. I got confused again. Hey, hasn't it been almost ten minutes since the Alabama National Guard rotated through Iraq?
